Fun Ways to Use Event Photos in Your Marketing

We are now well into the summer season and it seems like everyone is more active and there are more events and outings going on than ever before, especially now that we are moving back to pre-pandemic gathering levels. You may be noticing that there are more opportunities both at your work and your member associations to network, learn, gather and collaborate. Now is a great time to take advantage of these events – not only as an attendee to strengthen your own network and skills, but also as an event organizer to utilize event media and build on the excitement of your event and your brand.

Need a little inspiration for where to start? Here are some fun ways to incorporate event photos into your future marketing plans:

1. Create buzz with a day-of social media hashtag.

Events are a great way to show the fun side of your business or association. Make sure to create a day-of event social media hashtag and share with your audience – this is the perfect way to leverage event photos on the spot by encouraging attendees to share their photos and adding them to an ongoing slideshow at the event. This creates excitement at the event as attendees look for their own photos and to see if they are included in any of the other ones shared at the event. Also make sure you assign someone from your company to post real-time updates via social media and incorporate event photos and videos into the posts. Encourage event attendees to tag themselves in any event photos you post and share them with their networks – this helps create excitement around your event and builds momentum and buzz for your upcoming events.

2. Provide dynamic post-event recaps.

Make sure to capture all the various components of your event with photos and videos. A professional event photographer can help document all the little details – check out these top reasons why you need a conference photographer for your next event. Immediately after the event, post some photos on your social media channels. If your company or association has a blog, publish a new blog post with links to the online albums. If you had a videographer at the event, have them put together a highlight reel showing all the excitement and best moments. All of these things are great to share online – those who attended will be excited to see the content and see if they made the cut, and those who were unable to attend will feel like they missed out and will be more inclined to attend the next event. Post-event recaps are also great to include with sponsor and speaker thank you messages, ideally incorporating images including them and their logo. Finally, include photos in any press coverage you get, such as industry media or other social media pages.

Including elements of your logo and branding into your event backdrop is smart for photos and videos used in event recaps. MCP was on-hand to make sure all of these details were documented at the Generis American Packaging Summit:

3. Use photos in promotional materials or office décor.

Events are the perfect time to capture fresh, fun and festive images – of your employees, clients, products and so much more. Make sure to find a photographer who knows all of the details you would like to capture. After the event, these images are great to use to refresh your promotional materials, to use in your annual report or other published documents – and so much more. It also might be fun to use some of the best images taken by your event photographer to enlarge and frame to hang around your office. Not only will it remind your employees of the fun event memories, but it will also show a lighter side of your company to any clients, prospects or business partners that come in. This might also be a good opportunity to display any photos of your CEO or company leader giving a speech or engaging with attendees. Having real life images and examples hanging around your office does a lot to personalize the space. You could also use the photos on any fun company awards that are given out to your employees, or on post cards or thank you notes that you send out to clients. Really the opportunities to use these images are endless – just remember to have fun with them!

We were recently at a PWC Training Event and captured a lot of memorable moments:

4. Be creative with corporate gifts.

Any photos you get from your events this summer would be perfect to use in your upcoming corporate gifts – frame an event photo to give to donors, sponsors, speakers, leadership or any other partner of the event. Not only will it be touching and meaningful, but they will most likely hang up the photo in their office and be constantly reminded of the good memories from the event. Creating a photo book with images from the event is also a great gift and one that not only will mean a lot but will be held on to for a long time to come. If you have an event photographer, make your investment go further by utilizing these professional images in any way that you can. Be creative and incorporate your event images anywhere it makes sense.
